Creative Objective: In 2006 Apple releases the first iphone, which as we all know changed everything. I was working for Condé Nast Digital Art Director and Dir. of Interaction design and designing Men.style.com, and Style.com. I had an idea on how we take the core purpose of Style.com, Fashion shows. Most companies at the time were making apps that were replicas of their websites. I abstracted the fashionshow content and created a clean and elegant solution that mimic’d key UX and UI of the IOS. I created a prototype video demo of what the show would look like using “Flash to mimic the navigation and using video overlays that would show how users swipe and interact with the UX. I produced a vertical video and loaded it up on my phone and walked around the office showing the idea to to my bosses and bosses boss. I was able to secure funding and resources and we developed the first App for Condé Nast. The Designs below show V2 of the app were we added Street style and Party coverage.
The core principle in building this app and thinking about adaption at the time it was created , was mirroring the IOS UX UI so users will be familiar with the app and navigation principles. The app went on to win publishing award and changed the principles of fashionshows in a industry when being first mattered most.
